Penta-Ocean Construction Co., Ltd.
Award of Construction Contract for Singapore Changi Airport’s
Terminal 5
Intra-terminal Tunnel Project
Tokyo, Japan - June 10, 2025 - A joint venture of Penta-Ocean Construction Co., Ltd. (hereinafter POC, President Takuzo Shimizu) and Koh Brothers Building & Civil Engineering Contractor (hereinafter KBCE); where Penta-Ocean owns 70% of the JV shares, has been awarded the contract for Changi Airport Group’s (CAG) Intra-terminal Tunnel project, one of the construction packages for Changi Airport’s Terminal 5 (T5). The Contract Sum is approximately JPY 108.9 billion (SGD 999 million) and covers a construction period of more than four years.
The intra-terminal tunnels will serve as underground connections within T5, supporting the efficient transfer of passengers and baggage across the terminal’s concourses, while also facilitating the routing of common utilities.
POC was previously engaged for land reclamation works and site preparation works for Changi Airport’s third runway and T5.
T5, which recently broke ground on 14 May 2025, will allow Changi Airport to significantly increase its handling capacity as travel demand continues to increase in the decades ahead. Expected to open in the mid-2030s, T5 is designed to handle about 50 million passengers annually in its first phase.
With this track record and familiarity with the development project, POC will continue to contribute to the development of Singapore.
