Pipe Classifying System for Dredged Material
Pipe Classifying System for Dredged Material
This system classifies sandy dredged material into sand and silt in order to collect only the sand, without disturbing continuity of transferring the dredged material. An enclosed-type separator is inserted into the center of the transferring pipe and separation is accomplished by keeping the velocity of the flowing fluid at the specified critical velocity. Classified sand is continuously discharged and collected by an output screw attached underneath the separator.
High collection ratio of sand
Significant quantities, more than 90%, of sand can be collected from dredged material using this method. Fine particular content in the separated and collected sand is no more than 5%, therefore, it can be recycled in the same way as natural sea sand. Since the dredged material is separated during its transfer within the pipe, the fine particular obtained is continuously transported in the same pipeline.
Applications for large-scale dredging projects
This system is applicable for large-scale dredging projects, owing to its adaptability to conventional large-sized dredge pumps.
