Optical Measurement System for Evaluation of Bearing Capacity of Driving Piles
Optical Measurement System for Evaluation of Bearing Capacity of Driving Piles
When dynamically evaluating bearing capacity of driving piles on site, workers usually need to manually measure rebound values of the pile during driving directly under the pile-driving hammer. This can cause serious safety problems and dispersion of data obtained due to individual differences. In an effort to eliminate these problems, Penta-Ocean has developed a measuring system for rebound value using optical instruments. The rebound value is obtained by measuring displacement of reflective tape placed on the pile using of CCD video camera placed and fixed on land away from the pile.
Making operations safer
Since conventional manual measuring of rebound value carried out directly under the piling hammer is unnecessary, safety during this operations has been dramatically improved.
Improvement of accuracy of data obtained
Data manually obtained is likely to vary and accuracy tends to be compromised due to shaking of the ship or individual differences. Measurement by optical instruments can solve these problems.
Easy and timesaving measurement
Measurement starts automatically by just pressing the start button followed by putting reflective tape on the pile and setting the CCD video camera and adjusting the focus. By analyzing electric data obtained using dedicated analyzing software, bearing capacity is immediately calculated.
