The Clay Guard® Method
The Clay Guard® Method
Treated Clay-Guard Material
The Clay Guard® method was developed especially for structures requiring high levels of seepage control, such as coastal disposal sites.
In order to maintain the required level of impermeable performance even in the event of damage due to earthquakes,
Penta-Ocean has developed Clay Guard®, a clayey quasi-impermeable material with self-sealing performance.
Clay Guard® is composed of dredged marine clay and contains a mixture of bentonite to serve as a void conditioner
for adjustment of the hydraulic conductivity and sodium silicate as a gelling agent to prevent segregation.
The material also does not solidify or crack over time.
Seepage control in compliance with Japanese regulations
Clay Guard® can be cast on the seabed to seal coastal disposal installations, providing a impermeable seawall structures, fail-safe system of containment with a high level of seepage control in combination with steel sheet piles.
Superior deformation capability
The exceptional deformation capability of Clay Guard® is owed to the plasticity of clay soil, making it possible to maintain extreme self-sealing performance free from cracks or voids.
High durability performance
Clay Guard® is composed of a mixture of dredged marine clay and bentonite, both natural occurring and nearly indestructible, present no adverse environmental impact.
