Launching Ceremony of the New Offshore Installation Vessel “CP-16001”

Tokyo, Japan - Jan. 05, 2022- On December 22, 2021, Penta-Ocean Construction Co., Ltd. (President, Takuzo Shimizu), Kajima Corporation (President, Hiromasa Amano) and Yorigami Maritime Construction Co., Ltd. (President, Masafumi Yorigami) held a launching ceremony for the new offshore installation vessel *1
"CP-16001” equipped with a 1,600-ton lifting crane, which is under joint construction of the three companies.

The launching ceremony was held at the Graha Shipyard in Batam, Indonesia, which is owned by the designated shipbuilder PaxOcean Engineering (Singapore), and was broadcast live online to all related companies.

The shipbuilding contract was signed on January 30, 2020, and the groundbreaking took place on October 30 at the shipyard, both after the start of the COVID-19 crisis. However, thanks to the tremendous efforts of all those involved in the project, the construction is progressing smoothly and on schedule, with an 86% progress rate. Going forward, we will proceed with the work, including the installation of a crane, and after completion and delivery in September 2022, we hope to begin operations in April 2023, following crew proficiency training, etc.

The vessel is 120 meters long and 45 meters wide, with a maximum capacity of 100 people. It will be equipped with a large fully-revolving crane with a lifting capacity of 1,600 tons to accommodate larger offshore wind turbines and their foundation structures, allowing for the efficient construction of the 10-14MW offshore wind facilities. The basic design of the vessel was carried out by GustoMSC (the Netherlands), which handles more than 70% of the world's offshore installation vessels, and the main crane will be provided by Huisman (the Netherlands), a leading offshore crane manufacturer. The vessel will be owned and operated by PKY Marine Corporation, a joint venture of the above-mentioned three companies.
