Tokyo, Japan – March 1, 2018 – Penta-Ocean Construction Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Penta-Ocean”) was recently awarded the Tuas Terminal Reclamation, Wharf Construction and Dredging Phase 2 Project (also referred to as “Tuas Terminal Finger 3 ”) in joint venture with Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. (South Korea) and Boskalis International BV Company (Netherlands) by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) with a contract value of SGD 1.46 billion (JPY 121 billion). The contract value for Penta-Ocean is approximately JPY 42.3 billion. The construction period of the project is 108 months and slated for completion in March 2027. It will construct a reclamation of 387 ha of land and 23m deep-water berths with 8.6 km of quaywall to accommodate future large container ships.

The Government of Singapore is currently planning to consolidate all of its container terminal operations in Tuas by 2040s. When the Tuas Port is completed, it will increase the container handling capacity in Singapore to up to 65 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of cargo, almost double the volume of containers handled in Singapore in 2017.

In 1984, Penta-Ocean was awarded the first reclamation project in Tuas Area and subsequently the project for its further extension in 2000, and recently in 2014, Penta-Ocean was also contracted for the construction of Finger One Reclamation Project (Proposed Reclamation at Tuas Finger One) in the Tuas area by the JTC Corporation.
