Award of Large-Scale Hospital Construction in Singapore
Feb 04, 2016
Penta-Ocean Construction Co., Ltd has been awarded by Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) to construct a 19-storey mixed-use building which will house the future Outram Community Hospital (OCH) for a contract sum of approximately JPY57.6 billion (S$674 million). This is the company’s fifth successful tender for construction of large healthcare facility in Singapore following the award in September 2014 for the construction of an acute hospital.
This community hospital will be linked physically to the Singapore General Hospital via a linkbridge. The Singapore General Hospital (SGH) Singapore’s oldest and biggest hospital facility is located adjacent to Outram Park MRT Interchange Station, where the East-West Line and North-East Line intersect. The community hospital is equipped with over 500 beds and rehabilitation facilities will be well position to serve an increasingly ageing population of the city state.
In addition, the Community Hospital will include other campus-wide facilities such as a logistics centre, car parks and offices to cater to the needs of a large campus. The project scope also includes an elevated footbridge, expansion works of SGH’s medical campus near the main road and upgrading works of the adjacent bus stop at the fringe of the construction site.
Since entering the Singapore market in 1964, the Company has participated in numerous large-scale projects in the country. The Company considers Singapore to be one of the key markets for its overseas business – and backed with a wealth of experience in the field – the Company will continue to proactively expand the business while keeping an eye on the bottom line.
