Transplantation and Cultivation of Eelgrass

Sea grass beds (sea grass communities) are home to a variety of organisms, thereby promoting biological diversity in coastal sea areas. The community plays an important role as a safe environment for fish and shellfish to hatch and raise their offspring. And, stabilization of carbon oxides and other organic substances through photosynthesis contributes to water purification.

Penta-Ocean has developed an innovative eelgrass-transplanting mechanical system suitable for realizing large-scale transplantation work of sea grass beds with minimal disturbance to the habitat during this process.

Features

  • Compared with conventional techniques, Penta-Ocean’s method makes it possible to transplant sea grass at the appropriate time, thanks to large-scale transplanting techniques.
  • By collecting the grass together with a layer of soil, the grass can continue to grow in a new location, in its original growing environment.
  • Penta-Ocean’s system cultivates the grass while keeping its vitality, because transplantation does not damage the leaves, stems or root systems.
  • Since other organisms are transplanted together with the grass, this technique ensures the uninterrupted continuation of the ecosystem surrounding the grass beds

Collecting and Transplanting Work

Construction Mud Recycling System

An inner packet is pressed into the seabed under the seabed surface, collecting the grass together with the soil it is growing in.   The grass is transplanted without fear of damage, because the inner packet is simply pulled out from the bottom.
