Off-Shore Batter Pile Driving Control System by CCD Video Camera

This system was developed in order to improve accuracy and efficiency of driving batter piles under offshore facilities. Using this system, piles are captured by CCD video camera attached to a total station, and are positioned and angled when inserted. Images obtained are transmitted from the total station to a floating piling barge and are displayed on a monitor in the Operations Room. While checking the picture displayed, operators of the floating piling barge and site supervisors can adjust the driving position and angle to the designed values.

Flexibility of setting position of the total stations

Unlike conventional methods, this system allows for the multiple position settings of total stations, depending on site conditions. The zoom feature of the CCD video camera makes it possible to enlarge images of the pile so that piling position and angle can be promptly confirmed. Owing to the remote control and real-time video image monitoring features of the system, workload for surveys can be reduced.
