A festival marking the opening of the Esplanade-Theatres on the Bay was held for three consecutive weeks from October 12, 2002, and was attended by 50,000, including 2,000 official guests.
A spectacular fireworks display illuminated the Singapore River, and acrobat shows in an adjacent high-rise building warmed up the atmosphere of the festival. World-famous artists performed in commemoration of the opening, while the event was broadcasted throughout the Asian region. |
